Today Youtube released a statement with details on new features for channels that release game content. This is a great step forward by the company because in the past they have not shown the interest in the gaming community as much as they have say the music industry or movie companies.
The first major feature that will be coming to the community is the ability to post gameplay footage at 60 FPS(frames per second). This is a great feature to add onto Youtube because at the moment all Youtube videos are limited to 30 FPS which is the normal amount for content such as movies and all other camera captured media but for gaming this doesn't cut it. Games are run in full HD at 60 FPS so when you capture the footage and post it to youtube it only shows up in 30. With this new feature you will be able to view the content as it is intended to be viewed.
The second feature of this update is the Tip Jar. It is similar to donating to a user on Twitch. You give the creator of the content money for entertaining you. Youtube will take 5% of the money brought in and $0.21 for every transaction. This will be ok as long as your viewers enjoy dropping larger amounts of money in the jar.
I see this features as a great step forward by Youtube to show support for its gaming community that has grown very large over the past years.
